  • All 3.0+ updates by

INSTALLER APP SOURCES -
Pour les sources cydia :
/private/var/mobile/Library/Installer/ in 1.1.3
/private/var/root/Library/Installer/ in 1.1.2 and lower
TrustedSources.plist
PackageSources.plist

SAFARI BOOKMARKS -
Pour vos favoris:
/private/var/mobile/Library/Safari in 1.1.3
/private/var/root/Library/Safari in 1.1.2 and lower
Bookmarks.plist

PHOTOS -
Vos images sont ici:
/var/mobile/Media/DCIM/100APPLE in 1.1.3
ou
/var/root/Media/DCIM/100APPLE in 1.1.2 and lower
They are all there and named IMG_XXXX.JPG

'For SYNCED Photos
Want to keep your SYNCED PHOTOS that are on your iPhone? Use this process.
I did this because I no longer have access to the photos I synced from my PC other than on my iPhone.
Go to /private/var/mobile/Media You will see a folder called Photos Copy EVERYTHING that is in that folder, the "Thumbs" folder AND the "Photo Database" file.
When you are finished doing whatever you are doing with your iPhone then just copy them back to the same location.
THEN REBOOT YOUR iPHONE
Open your Photos on the iPhone and they should all be there like before.
I did this then upgraded my 1st Gen iPhone to 2.0 with SIM unlocked using the guide listed on this site. I did connect to iTunes first and BACKED UP my iPhone but I think that just saves the settings for the screen icons as well as contacts, not sure if it has any effect on the Photos.
'TRANSFER PHOTOS FROM IPHONE TO PC and vice versa'
I discovered this app called CopyTrans Photo that backups, manages and organizes your iPhone photos in albums. Basically, this program is the ultimate tool for iPhone photos. http://www.copytrans.net/copytransphoto.php

VIDEOS -

Recordings -
Just backup this folder and put it back to restore your recordings which are in .m4a format
/private/var/mobile/Media/Recordings

MUSIC -

If you used the swaptunes app to have two music librarys, then your second library will be at:
/var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control2/Music in 1.1.3
/var/root/Media/iTunes_Control2/Music in 1.1.2 and lower
Notice it is now itunescontrol 2

ADDRESS BOOK -
/private/var/mobile/Library/AddressBook/
AddressBook.sqlitedb
AddressBookImages.sqlitedb
--- this might be right for people with 1.1.2+
but for 1.1.1 or below it is the following directory:
/private/var/root/Library/AddressBook/
I sync my contacts using yahoo's mail through iTunes. Works great.

VOICEMAILS -
All things related to visual voicemail are stored here:
/private/var/mobile/Library/voicemail/
Within are all of the voicemails you haven't deleted (and a few that you have), your personal greeting, and the voicemail.db file that keeps track of who has called you.
Copy EVERYTHING just to be sure.

CALENDAR -
/private/var/mobile/Library/Calendar Calendar.sqlitedb
I accually sync my iPhone with Googles calendar after a restore using NemusSync

NOTES -
Notes are important - remember to grab the notes.db file here:
/private/var/mobile/Library/Notes/notes.db
Saving that saves your notes.
Note: Older notes.db files can break MobileNotes.app in 1.1.3 when transplanted with SSH

CALL HISTORY -
Back up the entire folder ~var/mobile/Library/CallHistory it contains call_history.db, which is all of your call history information. just replace it with SSH and make sure that you give it full permissions so that your phone can edit it and add more call history after you restore

SMS -
Your text messages are saved in a database file. It can be found at:
private/var/mobile/library/sms/sms.db
Save the sms.db to keep a record of your texts!
The above might be true for 1.1.2+ But for 1.1.1 and below the directory is: /private/var/root/Library/SMS/sms.db

COOKIES -
Your cookies can be found at:
/private/var/mobile/Library/Cookies
Where the file named cookies.plist contains all your safari cookies.
James

HISTORY/SAFARI SUSPEND PAGES -
Your safari history can be found at:
/private/var/mobile/Library/Safari
Where the history.plist conatins all your safari history.
Also in the above folder is a file called SuspendState.plist which contains the last pages that were open before you closed safari, because as you may know safari opens at the last unclosed pages.
James

BOOKMARKS -
Bookmarks can be found at:
/var/mobile/Library/Safari
In the bookmarks.plist file which can be opened with notepad and you should see your bookmark addresses in there.
James

WALLPAPERS -
Your wallpapers can be found at:
/Library/Wallpaper
Where the file with the xxx.png (xxx is a three digit number) is the actual wallpaper, and is what you will want to copy should you wish to back them up. The only way you can tell which wallpaper is which is by opening it.
James

RINGTONES -
Your ringtones can be found after winscp'ing into your iphone at:
/var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/Ringtones
And are named for example like:
SSAT.m4r
And so the only way to tell what ringtone it is, is to play the ringtone.
James

---
  • For 3.0+ you can find your Ringtones in here:
/private/var/stash/Ringtones
the format is .m4r
Tip: copy any ringtones or alarms you want here, it doesn't have a restricted length so feel free to put up an entire song you have converted to .m4r format.
